So very traditional. It is so easy to write a Haiku but hard to set yourself above in this manner. Be proud and enjoy your win. You deserved it.

Ahhhhhh... such a beautiful haiku! No wonder this was a winner. You've chosen the exact right words, painted a vivid picture with them, and left the reader with a gasp of satisfaction at this stunning image. I love haiku when so magnificently executed. Congratulations!

Lets get on a plane and find this on many private and quiet beaches.
Bring your beloved and I will bring mine.
I walked on ne like this on the Cayman Islands.

I so agree with the committee on this one BarnCat... You have quite the delicious haiku going on here. Great lines, the title setting, the whole haiku set up, spectacular and correct. Congratulations on a wonderfully developed and summery haiku!

I am so glad you won. I noted one of the reviews thought this included personification. I don't. I think you wrote this for class, didn't you? I believe I supplied the picture! Superb work. (I don't have any sixes left.)

Thanks Alvin -- both this haiku and the 5/7/5 were written for class. This is the one I struggled with -- including that "interesting" crybaby revision! So looking forward to the haibun class -- so much to learn. D

Congratulations on winning the haiku competition with this great entry. A very well penned piece indeed, meeting all the constraints required in a proper haiku. Well done.

You win the prize for writing Haikus. I wish I had six stars left for this luscious poem. Your words create a paradise in my thoughts. And the word komono is SO appropriate in the last line, since haikus are Orential. Exceptional writing. Blessings to you for the Thanksgiving holidays, Linda

Thank so much for sharing your impressions of this haiku, Linda. I appreciate your encouraging words very much. I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving, too, and have many blessing to be thankful for. Oh, and share a little turkey with you four pawed friends -- I know you will! Thanks again. D

Your poem is in good 5/7/5 line - so many people complain about the 5/7/5 count, but in your hands, any syllable count sounds beautiful
your lines flow smoothly
I love the mix of senses with the light and the feel of the breeze
and your imagery of the silken azure sleeve/summer kimono is just perfect
Every haiku you write deserves a six - I just don't have any to give :-) Brooke
