Okay Deb,
I read your wonderful story and now I have to know....
Did the little skater win the gold medal for her "once in a lifetime skate"? Did this little ice queen get her hearts desire- because I know she stole my heart.
Very nicely written dear story teller.

Dorothy Hamil should thank you up and down for this one. You've done her a mighty justice. So close you could feel the ice chips eh?

I remember when I was little, I loved the Ice Capes. We went to see it every year. There is something so graceful about "dancers on ice." Your story has the "ring" of truth to it. I can picture this little girl, her heart pounding with anticipation as she's about to take to the ice. You follow through with good images of her performance, and end it with her feeling of satisfaction once she is done. All in all an enjoyable read. deb

Just wanted you to know I received all your replies, and I thank you. The one about surgery, makes sense, though I'm hoping it won't take quite that long. I spoke w/my doc. today and instead of having to wait 2 weeks for a bath, he's letting start taking them after 1wk. which is tomorrow...I love a hot bath, so YEAH for that! I'm jealous of your autumn. Today was my 1st day out though, and the sun came thru for me. I'm hoping that in it self, was some kind of a sign. 1st day w/out rain in a week! I know you've posted more writing, and will catch up at some point. You busy poet you! LOL! Hugs, deb

Debbie, as I have often watched the Winter Olympics and other televised events centered around figure skating, I can appreciate your story. It has excellent and captivating detail of the performance. Excellent action words kept this story moving. Blessings, hector

Thank you. I had several people say it should be divided into paragraphs, which I just did. I wrote this because I had written one about a year ago, and wanted to see the growth that has occurred and has it ever!!! Thank you so much!!! Debbie

I would like to see this divided into about three paragraphs.
I have watched figure skating on television since I was a little girl and have also been to several wonderful shows in person. It is SO beautiful.
You describe the skater's performance and the mood of the competition well. Brooke :-)

Brooke, you are not the only one to say that so I did it. If you get a chance would you peek and see if you think I divided in the correct places. Thank you so much. I always anxiously await your reviews!!! Debbie

I enjoy figure skating myself. My men tease me about it, but I enjoy watching it. I enjoyed reading your short story, I could see the image in my mind as I read.

How luck to have seen Dorothy Hamil. This short piece is a lovely capture of that special moment in time. You have shown the movements and given us the feel for the performers hopes, joy in the perfect presentation and anticipation of scores.
Nicely told, Debbie. I could see the little skater pumping, pushing and sit spinning, the edges of her blades shaving the ice.

My son and I were roller skaters for 10+ years. He did a bit of ice skating too, but not me (oh. I had two legs then! I miss skating and it seems like it isn't televised often right now. I can't wait for thr winter Olympics when I lock my house, shut of the pnoe and have 10 days of pure enjoyment!!! Thank you! Debbie

I love ice skating also. They always make it look so easy to do. I tried it once and skated on my ankles the majority of the time. Great job.

I roller skated and played roller hocke4y. Somehow, $ wheels seenmed safer than one blade. I think afetre roller skating several years, ice would have come more naturally. but O was happy on wheels!! DEbbie

this is very well written, debbie, a beautiful job writing this story about figure skating, i love watching that and gymnastics. the only sentence i had trouble with was
:Slowing, the skater slows. the slows are too close together but my mind isn't working right now with any suggestions.
