It's good to know that you are past the affliction that is brought by depression.I think the depression started when you had the accident. You were given a reason to live to be a witness to others that when you believe your light will never go out.My favorite line:"I no longer spend my time there".It is well written and has a message of hope and faith.Good luck.

I am happy for this person too. I liked the end of your poem more than the rest of it. It was nicely done though , but quite sad

You describe well the feeling of depression and how it can bring one down. But we do not have to stay there. Great verses and use of words. Many can relate to how you feel and how recovery is possible.

Hi DeJohnsrld, I enjoyed reading your poem and the best part at the end, how you are no longer there is awesome. Yes, all our thanks to our creator, no doubt, who has helped us pull through. Thanks for sharing

This is a lovely poem about a terrible illness and you've expressed it well here. I'm glad that you have recovered.
God bless.

This poem is written with insight.
The alliteration is great and it has nice flow.
I am pleased this state has passed for you.
Warm Regards.

I swear I already read this and commented but I couldn't find it my folder of reviews sent. Good poem! The top of mental illness is something so many people want to avoid - it is good that someone gives it voice.

I have written about this other times. That might be what you remember. At this point in my life, I feel as though advocating for those with disabilities, so it is a frequent topic. As long as people read, I'll continue to write. Thank you so much for your kind review!!! Debbie

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

This is a very clear and also beautiful way to describe mental illness, depression, in my case it is recovery from stroke(4 years ago) and the brain damage that comes with it, that, and being left paralyzed on my left side. As you say
"It seemed far too impossible
To recover from way down there"
I can certainly relate. I am still in a wheelchair and have no use of my left arm or hand.
Excellent job, great flow and rhyme and presentation.
Nice to meet you. I invite you to check out my work. Also, much about recovery and feeling of loss. Lil

Sounds like we have a lot in common-I am also in a wheelchair due to a leg amputation, and have some brain damage too. Nice to meet you. Sounds like we will have a lot to share!!! Debbie

Five stars.
Cancer, bad, status glad; celebrity.
Mental illness, sad, status: suspect.
It is a heavy burden that must be shifted, through moods, and feelings of failure.

When a person recognizes that they have mental problems, it is the first step to control; after the fingers of denial are pried from the brain.

Prayers for all who bare the burden.

How true you are. There is such social stigma and discrimination about mental illness. Thank you so much~DEbbie

My heart really feels for you. Depression is horrible to go through. Sometimes we lift the shield of depression ourselves.think about happy times in your life and helping ones. Great write
