I'm not a poet and I certainly don't always understand the symbolisms in poetry. I thought this mainly highlighted a Christian carrying his cross but then when it said" and demand your shit back from the loan.'????? You've got a good command of word usage. The poem flows nicely, God bless.

Thank you, Janie :-). This is a self-deprecating piece about a service I could easily offer. One of my habits is picking up on the emotions of those around me. Trouble is, I end up feeling things more strongly than they do! So the service is that their problems suddenly seem less bad when I exagerrate them so. The theme is fighting one's own battles, carrying one's own burdens.

It's not an inately religious poem, and indeed I'm not an inately religious person, but the image felt perfect and I knew it would evoke that parallel. I think the theme is similar.

Your poem has exceptionally good rhyme and rhythm and I'm trying to figure out what it's all about. Judging by the artwork and some of the lines, it could be....nay, forget it. I don't know, but I do know it's good. Please enlighten me. Thanks, Penelope

lol, thank you, penelope :-). I'm grateful that you just say so, and don't either pretend you get it but write a generic review, or mark me down because you think it's too obscure.

Okay, how to explain this one ... Interestingly, I wrote it as a review to the mentioned Craig's List Ad by Judian James, because I felt the best way to show I'd understood her meaning was by writing my own poem. It's a self-deprecating advertisement for personal services, whereby I will come see you and empathise to the point where I take on all your issues and peeves, then get so upset and angry about them that you end up deciding they're not that bad after all, at which point you demand your woes returned and let me go off to be miserable with somebody else!

It's about having others fight our battles for us, and whether it's really a good idea, and also my own genuine tendency to pick up on the moods and feelings of those I'm near or communicating with. I'm not the guy who gets a party going - I'm the one who makes a good party better and a depressing one suicidal, lol :-)

Oh, thanks. I could never in a million years have guessed that, although you did give enough clues. I suppose I should have read JJ's poem first and all would have been clear. Thanks for your detailed reply, Mike. Haha. Making a depressing party suicidal...now that's funny. Penelope
