I'll bet the railroad have plenty of stories to tell, wonderful composition, got a melody to it and would definitely make a great song. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, fabulous C&W Lyrics and your author notes paint the picture perfectly, I get it...I wish I could hear it as a song, I hear a fiddle and a chugging train beat in the background, see you in Nashville.

Nice song! It moves as swiflty and easily as the train of which it speaks. Simple yet profound, easy on the ears and on the mind. Nice job here.

Can I take a ride?
This was a wonderful poem Vic.
Had a soft sing song kind of meander to it and I heard a tune as I read.
Verrrrry nice.
It DID whisper on the wind I felt and I liked the clever wording in the beginning about the humble wood carrying the load of the heavy steel train.
Most enjoyable.
So where do I get a ticket? LOL

This is definately a song and I love the feeling your words convey as I read this. The railroads are such a part of our history and this poem emphasizes the spiritual part they play in our lives. Wild asparagus sounds awesome!

Yes, my parents loved it. I love it now. But when I was a kid I just picked it for them. You know kid's tastes for veggies! lol

Hi there D! It's been ages. I hope all is well. I liked this very much and could easily hear it as a song. I did think this one bit was a little weak:
"Used your ditches
to sleep a while.
Come on railroad
stay a while." I don't think I would have repeated " a while" here. Otherwise, excellent. It was good to read something from your pen today.

When I was a child I used to walk the tracks too. I loved to do it and you really could go for miles and not see another person. Those were the days my friend.

Yes they were. Or else we remember them a little romantically, eh?

This poem does just what you wanted it to do. It paints a picture for me. I love the rails too in other ways. I love riding them and I love listening to them. We've always lived where we could hear the trains.
Great job.
