Smurphgirl,
I enjoyed this story very much. The interesting twist at the end was unexpected, but very original and creative. Well done and good luck.

Oh this was awesome, so gentle
and yet so full of wisdom, and
of true reward for a job well
done even though it brought
that darn wet stuff to the eyes.

'The Box' is a beautiful story and one that I might one day expect to hear again as part of a sermon. You give us a clear picture of the significance the Christmas box had for people and especially Fr. MacDougal. The image of people who died appearing has a spooky feeling for me. I sometime sit in a church I've attended for over four decades and visualize some favorite people who once sat in particular pews when they lived.
I wish I had more stars to give this story, Sasha. It's terrific!

Father MacDougal retired at eighty-two. He also reached the end of his life. The cards he found were from parishioners long dead. It was their way of welcoming him.
