I've gone thru the same thing your Gracie Ann is going thru and it rings of authenticity. Mine was 2002 and 2003 which seems like the Dark Ages now--laugh--funny how we process certain things. I think at the beginning you want the word faring rather than fairing. Always check with a pro and don't take my word for it. Thanks for sharing. GoodHearted Woman

I found this story so sweet and touching. There are couple people in life that have had cancer recently and they are all in remission now.I feel like being as happy as possible and having a positive lookout on life is important to recovery, and I believe this story promotes that. I love that the poem is simple yet complex and is centered around just one image: the scarf. I also really like the picture with butterflies that you included in your story.

That is one of the best stories I have ever read!!! :))))
I think it's so cute that her husband and friends supported her in anyway they could and they showed her they loved her dearly. I love the last line of the story and I think it's so true! True friends really do make a difference, they're always there for you! I have friends like that and love them all so much!!!!

Wow - what a story. What a heartfelt message you send to your reader.
I love flash fiction and this is great. No unnecessary words - not an adverb in sight (not that I noticed anyway!)
Great stuff, girl. Well done.

Thought the piece was quite warm and engaging. I genuinely wanted to see were it was heading so it kept my attention well. The subject is of course a very prevalent one and encourages much debate. My only criticism is that the narrative didn't seem to flow very well but maybe that's just me.

The relationship between the man and wife is warm and comfortable, but 'Chet, honey, we will get through this' seems a little stiff. And again with 'we will figure out what to do...' and 'I will take care of you.' I think contractions like 'we'll' and 'I'll' might loosen it a bit. Or am I splitting hairs?
The scene with Marguerite is very nice, and the ending couldn't have been better. All in all a tender and thoughtful piece.

What a treasure you have written! Your words and characters touched me in so many ways. You have made the story a living word tribute to the people you write about. I held back tears until the very last paragraph. The vision of all those colorful headscarves was a proper ending for a story well-written. JudithMarie

This is such a good story. I love the relationships you reveal in here with husband and wife and close friends. There is nothing like good Christian friends.
"She realized that it wasn't so much the hair, but her life; it was changing so rapidly. Death seemed to be looming and now she was even losing her looks."
This was so powerful to me. Great job!!

Judith Ann, what a lovely story of friendship and courage and the healing power of love - all those beautiful scarves - you have made my eyes well up with tears. The dialogue in your story is natural and makes your characters so likable.
This story is uplifting and a pleasure to read. Brooke :-)

Truly beautiful story, very emotional and gripping for being flash fiction. The story is focused and complete to the point where you've developed the main character sufficiently enough to care about what happens to her. The last paragraph is very touching. You've done an amazing job, I love your creative take on the topic "lost". I hope that the true life story had a happy ending. Regardless, this was a very uplifting story which has captured the more beautiful aspects of human nature. Thank you for the great read.
