A right good yarn there, Missy! Hugh Glass, Jeremiah Johnson, Bill Talbert all come to mind. I like your pace and the thoughtful descriptions of a world few Europeans saw, and fewer still survived. You captured a different kind of romance here. There was a brief and shining moment
when mankind and nature balanced each other in Western North America. I can tell that you feel the loss. I may just be an Eastern flatlander, but I still hear the call...
Thanks for the good read, Lee

Hi Lee! Wow. I am thrilled that you enjoyed this! Me too, I have long dreamed of a mountain cabin, with my horse and dog just outside, with a huge fireplace, ... OH WELL! What a dream. Thank you for reading this! I really appreciate having you take the time for me Lee! I hope you and your Mother have a great weekend! The leaves are falling fast now, boy, I have spring fever already..."/ Susan

Hey, I'm not through rummaging around in your portfolio. But if you want to direct me, even better.

") Good for you! You are a brave soul! I used to drive on solid ice, and I had fun doing what we used to call "a cat's ass", "doughnut", NOW, I will starve rather than drive in it! ") Do chickens have lips? THIS one does! HA. Let's see, I would be interested in your opinion of "Little Camille"? I am researching history to turn this into a book? Ps...I love hearing what you have to say Lee! Susan

An engaging and entertaining read. The Mountain Men must have been something to be around. It must have been special to have been in that part of the world before "civilization". I grew up in Colorado and love the mountains.

wow!! I would live there if it were not so expensive...seems all the really nice places are overwhelmed by the very rich. I am honored to have this wonderful review from you, a favorite author of mine, and someone I really look up to. Thank you Bill.

This is my kind of story. Your descriptions were excellent and the story moved along really well, and held my interest all the way.

I love the ending. There was a lot of emotion evoked by your character for his dog, and your words brought this front and center to this reader.

An excellent entry - good luck in the contest.

The reader gets the sense of the cold. Larue was right to tie his dog. If the bear had bitten or scratched the dog, he would be infected with rabies.

This is not my usual reading but I do like survival stories. This was a great read from beginning to end. I really like the ending it showed two things to me - man is a social anima and dog is man's best friend.
