Wow, the honesty of this poem blew me away. My heart is aching right now. What a sad story but brilliant work. I hope to read more of your writing in the future.

Wow! This is an incredibly deep piece of poetry. I especially enjoyed your choice of a title. Excellent! This is a very sad story. I liked the way you suck the reader in and do not let them know what's going on until the very end. Best of luck to you!

This poem is so well written and highly emotive. Fantastic imagery with "thrown down thrown down" and I love the way that we see the scene through the child's eyes. So sad. Your story brought tears to my eyes. Congratulations on your nomination. You deserve it!

My my what a sad little melancholic memory. A great moral message in here, which is what I take from this story. You have always gotta be careful around those we influence and especially children. The story it self was written brilliantly. i knew that little girl even though you only described her through your childhood eyes. Excellent. By the way why have you called the book 'Impudence of oranges.'

The book is named for the first poem in it. I am currently working on the prologue which will hopefully explain the title in more detail. Thanks again :)

This is lovely and sad. My favorite conflicting emotions. Maybe melancholy would be a better way to describe it. I like the rhythm like a 'dance'.

It's good to be back.

It's true that it can take only one little word to undo a whole friendship or relationship. It's hugely unfair circumstances in this case though with an innocent child being taught that word without being told of it's meaning and the implications it has on other people. I recommend 'Undone' by Janilou - it's only a little haiku and I think you will be able to relate to a lot after reading this piece of yours :)

Thanks again, Veekz. I checked out Janilou's poem and it's spot on. She managed to say in a few words what took me 1300 to say. Quite beautiful. Thank you for your kind comments. Take care... M:)

This is an exceptionally sad tale yet told so lightly and innocently through a child's eyes as the mother dances out of their life. If it's biographical, I am sorry for how confusing that must have been for you as a child. No edits needed that I could spot, this is quite a powerful piece.

You have painted a scene with so much insight and impact, in such a personal way that I can't fail to be moved. This poem is the epitome of 'showing' the reader exactly what 'you' feel/felt and saw in such as way as to involve them completely. The repeat line "thrown down" is astonishing - an inspired touch that somehow says something more than if it was only said once. I'd give a 6 if I had one to to give! This is one of the best poems I've read on this site.
