Judian,

This is a most beautiful free verse
Mother's Day poem. Each and every
part of it express heartfelt love
and I enjoyed reading the likeness
that you have to her and her interests.

I also liked your use of her shading you
from pain and shaping your character,
as well as 'trace you in my face' These
lines as well:

"You held the sun,
carried stars in your
pocket and shared
your light with all to see,

especially me."

It is so deserving of its exceptional rating,

Linda

Ah, so lovely, Jude. You made me sigh. The feelings were so gentle and tender, the pace, slow and calming. What lovely memories you share of your mom. Happy Mother's Day, Jude.

What a wonderful poem and a wonderful blessing to have had your mother for such a long time. The poem is beautifully descriptive and I know she would be happy to know how she is remembered.

This is really lovely, Jude, a sweet ode to your mother. You were truly lucky to have her in your life for so long. This looks like a contest winner.

Oh, wouldn't that be great! Not many sixers around, so I doubt if I could win but I really, really appreciate the compliment Sally. My mother was a wonderful person, as was my dad. Jude

What a beautiful poem you've written that tributes your mother. Your poem brought a tear to my eyes. Excellent use of alliteration in your ode. I especially loved the stanzas:
Spring has begun
as nature
renews, speaking
of you through
my hands,
exactly like yours.
Gardening tireless hours
within the joyous
command of each bloom;
it is what we do,
as I remember you ...

You held the sun,
carried stars in your
pocket and shared
your light with all to see,

Your fortunate you mom lived to such a ripe age of 98. Thanks for sharing you exquisite poem about you mother. A fabulous entry for the Mother's Day contest. Good luck in the voting booth. . .Melissa.

Hi Jude,

This is a lovely poem that brought mist to my eyes. It is not easy to lose a parent even if they are ready to go. I like the notion of seeing your mom when you look in the mirror. Well done and good luck in the contest. Blessings, chey

Hi there,
What an amazing woman she must have been and to live to such a grand old age.
I feel your emotions coming through very strongly in this poem, and I identify with so many of them.
May you be blessed as you remember her and who you are because of her. Mother's day is very difficult for those of us who have no mums around anymore.
Your last verse is beautiful.

Sweet and delicately stated. No pretense or over sentimentality. A great tribute to your Mom and your heritage. Reminds me of my grandmother---she's the first person I will look for in heaven.

Now this is a Mother's Day poem.

You paint such a beautiful picture of a much loved and loving mother.

All of the stanzas got to me, but this one especially got to me:especially me.
You shaped my character
and shaded my pain.
And when the time came,
bravely, you knew to
set me free.

Many stumble over the "setting free" ... now this is a mother!

Dog and I are dancing round the living room!!!!

Excellent, Judian. I felt the love you have for your mother. Pauses and alliteration enhanced these lines. My favourite lines are 'My mirror tells me, truthfully,
that you live on.' My, what a great age to achieve! Peter

Yes, she had a wonderful life and lived fully until the last year ... a broken hip took her. Thanks Peter. Jude
