Jude, as always you honor your mother beautifully. The title of your piece really caught my eye this time, an interesting dual meaning only revealed upon reading the poem.

One of the best poems I have read yet for Mothers day. This is a special way of remembering your mom and the way you did things together and how you carry out those things now as she taught you to do. Great poem.

This is truly a wonderful Mother's Day poem, Jude. I read your poem from one line to the next with amazement. I wish I could write beautifully like you did about my mother, because one day, I said the same thing too when we both looked at the mirror.

My eyes are like yours
in shape and shade,
as if made to
remind me of you.
My mirror tells me
truthfully
that you live on.

We were both blessed with long life mothers. Your Mom passed away at the age of 98 on July 4, 2005, mine at the age of 96, on January 12, 1999. Warmest wishes,

I understand all about seeing a parent in yourself. I look more like my father than he did, much to my dismay because he was not at all a role model, but a selfish, egocentric, jealous _____________, not at all like me. (I hope).

What a terrific rememberance, Jude! Your free verse is (as usual) woven tightly around an interesting theme, and just loaded with beautiful imagery. "I sigh with you gone." Indeed.

(Ninety-eight! That translates to a lot of years to have one's mother in one's life. My mother turns 88 in a couple of weeks, and I feel blessed!)

Age 98 is spectacular! She obviously lived a very good life. I won't go on about mine, for i just shared with a fanstorian friend about my Mother, but lets just say that you were far more lucky than me, and that is not being said to gain sympathy. I'm happy for you and not envious, for I am no loner scarred by the treatment which I recieved from my mother. I visit her at her assisted living center and bring her gifts, but the warmness which you expressed about your Mother is absent during those visits. Good write and I am glad for your sweet, loving memories of your lovely mother. Tony
