Flowing and emotional sonnet. It has good images and metaphors of how a new love can sew together a broken heart.

Dear Dawn of Tomorrow,
There is no doubt that the sonnet is the acme of poetry, with rhyme, rhythm, structure and feeling needing to be perfect and when it is, as in your poem here, it really fills my heart with joy. Having said that, There is one word that, to me, does not quite fit, although it makes sense. I would prefer to see a "A lover" (or some such) rather than "An ally", which to me does not have the same emotive appeal so apparent in the remainder of the work. It may be that you have chosen "ally" for some very good reason, say related to "battlefield", and, if so, I retire, but, anyway, it is a lovely work.

Well somewhat related to battlefield but more because he is my greatest support and constant companion, of course he is my lover as well but so much more. Thank you for your beautiful comment and I do agree that the sonnet is the acme of poetry. You have a blessed rest of the week. Jo Lynn

Good word choices and a nice constant rhythm and rhyme scheme. Comparing putting a life back together to mending threads was a good visual method. Nicely done

Poetry with all its different meanings. I can find 3 different visions in this piece although I really intended it to be a love poem, there are many messages within those lines and the war is definitely one of them. Thanks for taking the time to read and review.

What a terrific sonnet, DoT! Such a nice mix of concrete and abstract images, all leading to your conclusion that love conquers all (or at the least can thoroughly mend one's life). Glad your narrator found her faith in love restored!
For some reason, I'm reminded of my favorite Beatles lyric:
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make...."
Call it karma, but I think the three main characters in your sonnet will find that that quote contains more than a grain of truth.

This is a very beautiful sonnet because you have strong methaphors, as for example the flame with life. My fav line: "A miscued vow can leave a life in shreds,but true love found will bring the mending threads."
