What an exciting, creative poem. Well put together and creative use of X and Z words. Warren Zevon comes to mind when I read this, "Hit Some One" was one of his lighter tunes. I've not seen much hockey of late, pro or otherwise and this brings back the excitement of the game. I miss the Chicago Black Hawks of the late 70's and early 80's. Particularly games at the "old" stadium. But I also enjoy watching kids play on ice in the park, or on the street in autumn. It's a fascinating game and this poem does it much justice.

There is only one word for this poem: Impressive. You have done an outstanding job of not only creating an Abcedarian poem, but the flow of the poem was great and the subject inspirational and were you not fortunate to be able to use the Z... If I had a six to give you would receive it.

Exceptional job.

Amazing what inspires us! You have done a good job on this difficult poem working all the letters in well but you will have to take a look at how it flows. The meter is off in many places. A little editing will bring this piece up to a five.

A brilliant running commentary of the game and people. I was gripped by the format instantly. I've played hockey all my life and this drew my attention even more.

Your running style was easy to follow as was your commentary.

Brilliant effort - Keep it up. Next sport in the series??????

Take Care.

Miriam.

Thank you so much Miriam, for the great review and encouraging words. Sports poems don't generally get very well received here, or so it seems. I think most don't share the love for the game, or know anything about it in general. I appreciate your enthusiasm! I do have one other hockey poem and a sort of a 'spoof' football fan poem in my portfolio as well.

Using the word Zambone is an excellent idea to spur a prose poem. You do a great job, taking us into the game. While I don't understand much of hockey, I have seen bits and pieces of games. You get us into the action, the tense moments, and hold us there.

What a wonderful story in a poem but abcedarian also, extremely well done. This is by far the longest I have seen and you have written a great poem at the same time as the other rules. Excellent work Kay

I wish I knew more about sports. But the abcedarian is quite good, tells an interesting story, and has a nice interspersion of true rhymes and slant rhymes. Although you rhyme every two lines, it does not have a "singsongy" quality, due to the fact the story is so well written. Kudos.

Thank you so much for your review of this poem. I was actually listening to the game on the radio while I was writing it. :) I had fun with that piece. Kim
