I earned 1 banner. I used it tonight. FS said it showed 900 times.
I saw it 0. The one that is showing now has been up for a couple
or more hours. Mine? Never saw. The one I speak of is still showing & has been there for many hours.

If you look for your ad you may not see it. The site may be showing you one ad (not the one you are looking for) while showing someone else a different ad at the same time. But if the counter is going up your ad is being shown.

My portfolio said the banner was shown 900 times in a matter of a few minutes.

I think the general perception is that banners don't actually do anything, overall, anymore.
I would never recommend buying them (tho I don't think they are for sale) and I wish I could trade the ones I've 'earned' for something useful.
It's the prize in the crackerjack bag that I consider a picture of a tattoo. Or a temporary sticker for my forehead that only is visible in the dark when nobody is looking.

Yes, I wish FS would stop offering them for something that isn't clear how one wins them. Then if this is what they do . . . .why bother. I know the one I speak of was over & gone in a matter of minutes--maybe 5. It isn't showing in my portfolio & was there briefly. I would rather earn something more useful.

I just noticed that I had 1 Banner advertisement available. Fairly new to the site, I'm not quite sure what it is or even how a banner advertisement looks. I don't recall seeing others...of course, haven't known to look for them. Can someone explain? Thanks!

Supreme Banners - the ones you win from reviewing - are free. When you post a new work, you can add them to the certificate you purchase, just like you do member cent points. I don't know how well they work anymore, but when I joined the site, people would tell me they noticed my work "on a banner ad." It's free advertising, not something to fret about.
There is another type of banner, if it still exists, that you can buy. I don't recommend it.
Supreme banners and Lucky Leprechaun certificates are free and you get them as a prize while reviewing. They don't cost a thing to win, nor do they cost to use. Lucky Leprechaun certificates award prizes to the people who review YOU. Usually, it's a few cents.

Thanks so much for the helpful response... I'm still learning my way around FanStory, but little by little, I'm getting the hang of it! Thanks again for your help and have a wonderful day!
