RE: Warning question.
Reply on September 17, 2017 12:39 AM
Nancy, that doesn't need a warning. There is no site warning for mild cursing, so a warning scares off sensitive readers. There also warnings for violence and sex, and the same thing applies - the warning makes the scene appear more violent of explicit than it actually is. Use a warning, and you're telling readers to stay away when what you've written wouldn't be offensive to 99% of readers.

Of course, do use a warning when one is warranted, i.e., when you know the word needs a red flag.

I can't see me saying anything stronger in my poetry.
Thank you. I know I have seen much worse without warning.

Well, I love the way you stung the words together. If someone used the 'f' word over and over -- yeah, I can see a warning. But one 's' word -- that is iffy, but hell and damn, lordy, that must have been one sensitive reader! Or possibly, they were trying to fill up space to get the member cents.

Happy writing!

A book by our own Alec Gould.

One man's take on life told thru humorous short stories from his childhood on into his mid-50's; from feeling like an outcast in school to being an adult. His intent: hope. Hope in that you shall see, no matter how rough life can seem -and is- at times, that you may be able to enjoy it. Each story will bring a laugh, a smile, a tear, a lesson.

The 23rd Annual Book Awards said:
"We Really Need To Laugh" shares “memories which will resonate with many readers. Overall a creative presentation of the author’s life given in a rather sing-song poetic story telling style; a pleasant read"
