Lady by Tpa

The raindrops pelt against the car's windows. I hear the thunder in the sky and see the whistling wind sweep branches and leaves across the barren road.
I'm driving to our family's cottage, where I learned to swim with the help of my mother. She died two weeks ago. Bone Cancer took her life. You're precious," she always said. I always smiled. "You're my angel." I'm driving to the summer cottage. I need peace, away from home, away from people. I need to continue to study medicine, a promise to my mother. Wreathes of thick fog swirl around me. A woman crosses my path. I slam on the brakes. Her heart-shaped face resembles my mother's. I step from the car. "Lady!" She's gone! I see the cottage. A cruel wind blows. A gaunt tree plummets, smashing the cottage where I would have been, had I not stopped for that lady.
