danger can lurk around any corner
up a staircase
it can shove you in a room
and mount you
like a rabid dog
and laugh like a hyena
it can tell you
you are of no value
just a toy
for a boy
with a ploy
but it's no big deal
he's a wheel
and you'll forget
move on
live a life
he'll rule the world
flag unfurled
and every night
you will lie curled
in the terror of that time
crime
came to call on you
and you'll be the prisoner
in the cell
a hell ironic
for a victim
then one day
the bullies will throw a rock
through your window
taunting you
because they heard you had a story
and double dare you
to tell
tell your story
if you double dare
the whole damn world
will be right there
and the boys will too
those boys
the ones that scare you so
and you'll stand in front of them all
shaking and terrified
and become
A World Hero
