The female dog down the street, lonely. I sigh.
She barks, "Come, visit." When we walk by.
When I go to greet her, my chain is yanked. Why?

Human pup next door came into our yard. I didn't bark.
Pup twisted my ears. I barked. Its mother yelled, in remark.
Should've nipped it to teach it manners. Chain yank made a mark.

You stared at that female human in the park. I sniffed to find out, why?
She smelled sated of male relations. Her fake coat smell, a lie.
My nose touched her, she yelped. My chain yanked, I cry.

Neighbor pup smells of stuff caked under its false coat.
Its the same stuff I roll in. You yell and shout, "Get that bath tub out."
You scrub hard, it hurts, Why me and not that unmannered sprout?

The dog on the other side of our picketed fence, in pain does cry.
Ears clipped, tail docked, dew claws excised and testicles said, bye-bye.
Every animal including human say, "That ownership, we must deny."

The family, two houses over, left dog outside on Independence Day.
Fireworks scary. Screen torn, latch bent, seeking pack. Its paws a fray.
The master came out, dog whipped too hard. "Near death." They say.

You asked me to speak but you can't understand me. Why?

I thank Harvey A Rubenstein, for his beautiful painting, "guide dog pup."

A while back a neighbor beat his dog severely, because it was digging in the yard at a mouse hole. The beating didn't stop until I threatened to call Animal Control.
