Living without my sister
Missing Carol by Boogienights
Memorial Poems writing prompt entry

My sister had a loving heart,
and love is what she gave.
It's been two years since she's been gone,
her touch is what I crave.
I long to hold her hand and say
how much she means to me.
Words left unspoken when she lived,
a missed opportunity.
We were never very close
until after mom had died.
We found solace when together,
held each other when we cried.
She had a gentle nature,
she loved her family.
Was generous to everyone,
especially to me.
She once bought me a winter coat,
the best that she could buy.
I never wore it,
then one day she quietly asked why.
It was the finest coat I ever owned,
so this was my reply...
"I'm trying not to get it dirty,
I fear that I'll ruin it."
So what did my crazy, wonderful sister do?
She bought a duplicate!
"Now you have one you can wear
and the other just for show!"
Just one of many examples
of how her love would overflow.
My sister Carol wasn't perfect,
she had problems the same as me.
But we were perfect for each other
as sisters tend to be.
An emptiness exists in me
that never can be filled.
I miss my sister Carol
and forever always will.
When God brought her up to heaven,
her soul brightened up the place.
I just wish I could hear her voice once more
and see her loving face.
