December 30,2017, the holiday rush is over for me
I wanted to relax and enjoy the magic displays
Off to a store, to leisurely glimpse the last Christmas tree
No more cooking, entertaining, or buying gifts to wrap
Just wanted to browse and enjoy the magic once more
I dressed warmly for it was cold waiting for snow
My heart was warm with that still Christmas glow.
No shopping or exchanging, an outing to ease
The stresses of the holidays to release.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear
A store that I had not been in all year
I opened the door, then I was shocked
My seasonal good mood was suddenly mocked
There on the display, a sign read quite clear
Valentine's Day is not far away...
Shop now for your loved one, do not delay.
Appalled at the rush to make the time fly
The display of cupids and hearts ,I wanted to cry
Hurriedly, wanting to exit, I opened the door
Not feeling Christmassy anymore.
