The Zoo on Galactica Prime

Caution, caution
lightly tread
for wide these eyes
that peer so deep
so, filled with dread
a single tear
will draw you near
we fear
you'll find them lost
but what a cost
if you endear them
to your heart
we kid you not
they are nothing like
the helpless lot
they so appear to be
we found them fleeing
from their home
and rescued them
from certain death
calamitous extinction loomed
their world ablaze
their planet doomed
at first we thought
a trick of fate
but came to find
it was their hate
embodied deep within
their being
sense came too late
there was no seeing
that their path
would lead to doom
so, we keep them
in this room
perhaps one day
they'll see the light
until that time
don’t get too close
they bite
