Changing from autumn to winter
Autumn by HarryT
Abecdarian Poem writing prompt entry

Autumn's cool breezes sweep the land
Beautiful fall hues, Jack in command
Crackled dried leaves shatter underfoot
Discouraging those who like to go barefoot
Emerging frosty nights give cause to zip up tight
Forests scenes turn into vibrant montage sights
Good time to meander during contemplative walks
Hunt ring-neck pheasants or evil chicken hawks
Injun summer warmth fades slowly away
Juniper berries leading bluebirds astray
Kindling twigs lay on the cold, hard ground
Leaves cartwheel without making a sound
Moods are happy football is king
Nature adorns herself with colorful themes
Oranges, reds and yellows radiant in silver sunbeams
Pleasurable youth hayrides under harvest moonbeams
Quiet cold creeps; time to hug and sneak a secret kiss
Reading inside for old folks, frigid outside not sorely missed
Superstitions of Halloween ghosts raising spooky kid fun
Thunderstorms raging, stripping trees, not one left undone
Understanding its Nature playing her seasonal tone
Valued by northerners except snowbirds who've flown
Winter freezing on the way, but also happy homecoming
Xylophone tinkling carols, there will be no humbugging
Yuletide celebrations, the happiest time of the long year
Zest keeps mounting for wishing joyful, Christmas cheer
