The war was upon us, the men had gone away.
Leaving their loved ones to worry and pray.

Homelessness and poverty, children evacuated.
The fearful dread of telegrams as loved ones prayed and waited.

Air raid shelters, ration books, what was it all about.
Widows, orphaned children, whole families wiped out.

The piercing sound of sirens, flames lighting up the sky.
Missing the men and boys that had been sent away to die.

We hope that lessons have been learned that all war brings is pain
and hope for the prevention of it happening again.
