Whene'er it rains these dreary days
and skies are sketched in bleakest grays,
I hearken to the thunder's bark
as scarlet pitchforks pierce the dark.
So like my tears the droplets slip down spattered panes,
and I--I think of you again whene'er it rains.
When we were one so long ago,
we'd walk together, watch the show
'neath one umbrella loosely held
by entwined hands as our hearts swelled.
Though sopping wet we'd get, we had enormous fun,
two dreamy lovers long ago when we were one.
