GREW UP IN A TIME
Grew up in a time when things were fine
Hate and greed weren't prevalent
Hangin' with mates who'd always resign
To doing things so benevolent
Times have changed they've rearranged
Just what's important now
This Y Generation seem estranged
From what was once a vow
Calculators and mobile phone
A Commodore 64
These are things society condone
But still they are searching for more
The computer world on which they've held
Has taken over their lives
The next generation will have nothing withheld
Will be interesting just who survives
Yeah times have changed but not for good
Progress can be detrimental
Memories lost, of my youth that I should
Keep hold to be sentimental
The baby boom will always consume
A time in my life that was great
A wonderful time but don't assume
That there weren't things we just had to wait
Just those little things that happiness brings
And the world never owed us a living
We all worked hard for those material things
And as people we were so more forgiving
So here we are in a world so far
Where terrorism reins our world
Nuclear weapons we all must bar
If world peace is something we meld
So I say this to you we must all pursue
To unite and all love together
Be as one is what we need to ensue
We must endure all this bad weather

Author Notes
As a baby boomer born in 1954 I have certainly watched technology change the world
The advent of the computer, first man on the moon (supposedly), the calculator and the biggest blight on the Y generation, the mobile phone.
Now sadly we are seeing terrorism, religious racism and nuclear warfare.
Is it really progress when we can inevitably destroy ourselves?
