Exceptional Close Minded Parents Turmoil by Thesis The Prisoner writing prompt entry

My torment is constant, both mental and physical. I'm aware that I'm different, but to me it is who I am. I have the body of a man, but the mind and emotions of a woman. Why can't people let me be who I am? I need to change into the person that I was born to be. I have been a prisoner in my own body. My hair is long, but my parents won't let me embrace or become the woman I truly am. It's surgery or suicide for me. I cannot go on living a lie another day! Writing Prompt In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric. Author Notes I've know several people who have gone through this turmoil, and I have felt terrible for their internal strife. It's a horrible position for anyone to be in. Some couldn't handle the stress and are no longer with us. Those that are, have flourished, embracing their new persona. I applaud them!
