A tribute to truckies
A Trucker's Tale

It is a seedy unlit truck stop, the smell of fuel fills the air
It's about forty miles from nowhere and a thousand more from care
And I am pushing my old Kenworth far harder than it should run
I can hear the motor humming and I can see the sinking sun
Have been on the road since sunrise only a hundred miles to go
I'm addicted to this driving but why I'll never ever know
Sitting fourteen hours behind the wheel with its forty ton of freight
It's not easy to meet the schedules and there's penalties for late
And the cops don't make it easy they are forever on your back
They seem to draw some pleasure from booking a Kenworth or a Mack
Truckers are our Nation's heroes because they make our country strong
They deliver rhythm to our life like good lyrics in a song
