A School friend so worthy.
Judith by Aussie

Judith sat alone, reading books
Tattered clothes, shoes with holes
No one would approach those looks
Brilliant mind, lonely tolls.

I approached, smelt the smell
Looked upon her weeping sores
Her parents were old, old as hell
If they cared, they showed no cause.

I cared enough to help her mend
Was shocked at the filthy mess
She was proud to have a friend
Judith, brilliant mind no less.

Time went by, we showed her love
Came to my home, mother cooked
This lonely child from above
Now, she was clean and many looked.

Judith looked sad and dull
She had hidden talents to pool
We are blessed with comely whole
She became Dux of our school.

Author Notes
This is a true story of a girl I went to school with. Others turned away because of her second-hand clothes, dirty hair and sores on her legs. I didn't, brought her home to meet my mother. In the three years of senior school she managed to become Dux (top of) our school. You never know who you sit beside.
