My pappy never had no luck
first lost his truck
was taken 'way
by th' VA
My ma an' me we lived alone
in years bygone
in rugged lands
by our own hands
Such great relief it was to know
he told us so
that pa was free
of old TB.

My father fell ill and we lost truck, tractor and all in 1949...had to collect eggs and shell corn to pay that outrageous power bill(the minimum one dollar) I was five, going on six...
