In the distance a sad guitar
Love is dancing on the memory
Of a heart in the stars
Ribbons lie
Where she left them fall
I hear Kris
Now Willie
Old drunks
Voices rock
The walls

Jukebox playing country
Stool leaned up against the dreams
Joanne smiles at me
I stroll the floor
Pealing a long neck
As she wraps her arms around me
As we push the saw dust from the floor
Call it leaning
Call it dancing
Call it all done before

Once upon a time whiskey was the only need
Warm bed loving woman was the hunger and the seed
Youthful daydreams midnight hours
Passion met explore
Love was an action
Now it is
Carrying each other
Drunk as skunks
Out the door

In flat bed old pick up
Count the want
See the gain
Feels like heaven
To coddle
Taste fresh drops
Of rain

Sun blinds
Blood shot eyes
We as naked as jaybirds
Laugh until we cry
Cool river water
Washes away alcohol stains
So damn old
Too many
Aches and pains

Drop her off by the kids
She whispers in my ear
When can we do this again

In the distance a sad guitar
Love is dancing on the memory
Of a heart in the stars
Ribbons lay
Where she left them fall
I here Kris
Now Willie
Old drunks
Voices rock
The walls
