Death watch
Cancer by Walter L. Jones

River dumps its waste
Blood leaves the marks upon a wall
Children dry in summer sun
Trade all time to be
That child again

Walls sing to the beat
Music from here to now
Thumping on bed of life
All still a window peeking

Shells come in color of fall
Silence breaks shadows
Moving across room
Just a picture on her wall

And it is a tribute to when
She was young and coming on
To many young men
A want filled need

The seed was not bad
Just playing a reflection
Good and pleasure
To wonder and pure enjoyment
Nurse provides new drug
Pain and mind both gone
Sings her lullaby
Prepares her mind
Son it is time to die

He holds her hand
Pushing the dose
Button again and again
Death comes quickly
For Both
