How safe the world today?
Modern planes - time gains
Some took a needed holiday
Surface to air missile - black rains.
From all walks of life they came
Families, newlyweds, children too
No distinction, all casualties the same
Man's inhumanity to man - so true.
The skies are safe no more
Innocent lives snuffed out
Casualties of war
Death and destruction, rebels tout.
How safe the world today?
Complacency rules the west
Be safe - your only way
What next? Bullet-proof vest?
So much hate in the world today
Religions teach love - some scorn
Let us hold hands and pray
Peace in our times - a new dawn.

18/07/14: Malaysia Airlines MH17 shot down over Ukraine. A surface to air missile took 295 lives - 37 of those passengers were Australians.
