The Pride of My Mantle

The Pride of My Mantle
it continues to nag
(hag that she is)
parts long gone
rotting somewhere
digesting and put to utilitarian use
by a wise and thrifty dumpster diver
evidence eliminator extraordinaire
a femur with a stick and a sail
off to visit the horizon
chasing the sunset's array of bloody color
did I mention that my mother is missing
murdered "they" suspect
in their proverbial blandness
but her skull I will not part with
I seek its counsel
though it yet lies
no eyes to stare
a candle
enlightens me
I love her so
defining skullduggery
admitting to her accusations
