Cardinal's Gift by Mrs. KT
Faith Poetry Contest contest entry

Regal red on white
Joyful song
Thawing frozen soul
Who am I to doubt?
To question
What I do not know?
~~~
Crimson flash in flight
Faith restored
By silent wings’ sweep
Across ice-filled depths
Defined by
Author Notes
Lune poetry = syllable count of 5/3/5.
Today, 1/22/14, I read a post on facebook from a friend that reads: "A cardinal is a representative of a loved one who has passed. When you see one, it means they are visiting you. They usually show up when you most need them or miss them. They also make an appearance during times of celebration as well as despair to let you know they will always be with you." I know not where the quote or symbolism originates, but in northern Michigan, where I live, nothing is more majestic to behold on a winter's morn than a cardinal amid the snow-covered landscape. And nothing moved me more the other day when I wrote this piece, than the sight of a cardinal as I described above...
