Bungy Spider by kiwisteveh

Who put the devil in devil-may-care?
Who put the hang in hang-glider?
It was me, don't you see, with the wind in my hair -
I'm the World-is-my-Web, Bungy Spider!

Drive into town, I will follow along;
Swing wide on the corners, it's easy.
In your wake, no mistake, can't afford to be wrong,
Be it bone-shaking, bumpy or breezy.

Flung on a filament, thrown on a thread,
Free-flying's flipping fantastic!
All strung out, hurled about, I'm tossed heels over head;
Thank God that my web is elastic.

Home again, flown again, spider who dares,
Great air-waves I'm surfing so spunky.
I'm in strife with the wife cos the web needs repairs -
Arachnid adrenalin junkie.

Author Notes
The other day as I prepared to drive into town, I noticed a rather nice spider's web had been spun between the wing mirror and door of my car. Imagine my surprise on completing the round trip of some 80 Km (50 miles) to find that the web was still there - a little tatty, but still basically intact. My imagination went into overdrive picturing the spider's adventurous ride.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Bungy (or Bungee)-Jumping as a commercial adventure sport. Kudos to fellow kiwi A J Hackett who pioneered the 'pastime' and chose to publicise it by throwing himself off the Eiffel Tower before opening it to the public in Queenstown, new Zealand, in 1988.
