Author Notes

Kyoka are a Japanese form recently introduced to the US in 2006. The structure is the same as tanka-5 lines with 31 or fewer syllables. They are a parody of the more traditional tanka. They are supposed to be humorous and/or ironic. I wrote several Halloween ones which have been accepted by a literary journal for publication in 2014.

Thanks to helvi2 for the Halloween artwork
