Eve of Destruction by justjo66 |

Did you read or hear about this last year May 20, 2011 in the news? The world was going to end May 21, 2011. Are you old enough to remember Y2K? There have been lots of other times in history, too, where someone or some group has been certain it "would be on this date". I think December 21, 2012 is also a Mayan end of calendar date, too? Well, we are still here. It seems someone keeps calculating the date for destruction of the world. I guess a lot of people are believing these men. Frankly, myself, I'm not. The Bible teachers that no one knows the date, time and hour but our (my) Heavenly Father. So, I really don't think these fellows have all their facts straight. However, I do believe this old world is in a heap of trouble and it will end some day (perhaps sooner than we think)... I sure want to be one of those believers that are prepared when it happens. So, if it ends tomorrow...I'm ready...but I won't be quitting my job today. On the other hand, we do keep fighting those darn old wars. So much blood shed and so many soldiers have died on the battlefields of this earth. Memorial Day is coming up. Perhaps, you will take a moment in the middle of your picnic or whatever else you are finding to do and remember all the families that have given everything for our freedom. Things will change someday, this I believe. There will be one BIG final battle and then Peace forever more. I'm looking forward to that day when the lion will lie down with the lamb. Freedom is NOT Free. May we NEVER forget all the soldiers who have fought and many died for our country to keep us free. Our soldiers are still in the battle field. Lord, we ask you to keep them safe and our country free forever. God Bless America. A Protest song I remember from the 70's. Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire The eastern world, it is exploding Violence flarin', bullets loadin' You're old enough to kill, but not for votin' You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin' And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin' But you tell me Over and over and over again, my friend Ah, you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction. Don't you understand what I'm tryin' to say Can't you feel the fears I'm feelin' today? If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away There'll be no one to save, with the world in a grave [Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy] And you tell me Over and over and over again, my friend Ah, you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction. Yeah, my blood's so mad feels like coagulatin' I'm sitting here just contemplatin' I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation. Handful of senators don't pass legislation And marches alone can't bring integration When human respect is disintegratin' This whole crazy world is just too frustratin' And you tell me Over and over and over again, my friend Ah, you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction. Think of all the hate there is in Red China Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama You may leave here for 4 days in space But when you return, it's the same old place The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace Hate your next-door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace And... tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend You don't believe We're on the eve Of destruction Mm, no no, you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction. * Pray for Peace.
