An Earlette of Lament ...
Sink by closetpoetjester

~~~~~~~~   SINK  ~~~~~~~~
I swore I'd never let our friendship die
We made a pact to see it to the end
On you, in full I'd surely soon rely
To hear my voice and always comprehend
We thrived upon connection through each word
When first we met and struck a chord so true
With deep respect so mutually transferred
A world of verse, we took on, me and you
But something would obstruct our carefree road
To interfere and make us bend and sway
Foundations rocked, we'd bare unsettling load
Discord would strike, I pushed you far away...
... Then prior advice you gave in truth I found
Spurred need to heal the wound I sliced so deep
You reinstilled my faith in kindred ground
Forgiveness sought, til then I'll banish sleep
Since you've been gone I've had some time to think
Without you friend, I know I'll surely sink ...
Author Notes
Okay. This IS a bio.
Okay. This is NOT a bio.
Is. Isn't.
Oh, believe what you want.
Thanks for reading ...
This is a standard Sonnet extended by a stanza and a style created by my good friend Earl of Oxford ...
and its called ... wait for it - an "Earlette"
The extra stanza allows a little more elaboration, so I have incorporated a reverse volta. Impressive yes?
Hope you can see it.
The reverse volta in stanza 4 swings it in another direction entirely from the regular volta in stanza 3.
I do kinda like it, but.
Cool format variation Earl! Cheers and thanks for the help to tweak.
