Ice Clings to the Thuja Tree by adewpearl
Artwork by avmurray at FanArtReview.com

Snowflakes fall like frosted ferns
Ice clings to the thuja tree
Drifts shift as the chill wind churns
Winter's frozen jubilee

Author Notes
This poem is written in trochaic feet, which have an accenting pattern the opposite of more common iambic feet.
In the more familiar iambic meter, syllables are accented in a pattern of unaccented/accented - daDUMdaDUM. In trochaic feet the line begins with an accented syllable DAdumDAdum.
Thanks to the artist avmurray, whose photograph of ice drops on a thuja tree reached out to me this morning as I watched the snow falling outside my window.
