When Shadows Fall Upon the Grass by adewpearl

As branches billow in the breeze,
I watch the play of shade and light.
When shadows fall upon the grass,
each sun-soaked blade seems twice as bright.

A field transforms to sparkling sea
of emerald where light's still cast.
Each sun-soaked blade seems twice as bright
when shadows fall upon the grass.

Such luminescence owes its glow
to contrast with the shades of night.
When shadows fall upon the grass
each sun-soaked blade seems twice as bright.

Author Notes
In the mirrored refrain poem the final two lines of each quatrain form the refrain, but in each verse the two lines are flipped. The second and fourth lines always rhyme.
I'm watching the shadows from our evergreens moving as the breeze hits the branches, and it's amazing how brilliant the blades not in the shadows look in contrast to the shaded areas, far brighter than they seem on days without shadows.
I have used the preferred 3 syllable pronunciation of emerald in verse 2.
