Author Notes
The tetractys is a poem of five lines with syllable count of 1/2/3/4/10. A double tetractys continues the pattern with lines of 10/4/3/2/1 syllables.
Today is Ash Wednesday, a day when Christians of many denominations mark the beginning of Lent by asking for forgiveness of their sins. The ashes placed on penitnents' foreheads in the shape of a cross designate that their sins have been forgiven.
