a reflective ottava rima
The Ottava Rima
:
Unexpected Beauty

Bare trees that line a riverbank look stark
until reflected in the limpid stream,
for in its course what seemed severe and dark
is softened to become a rippled dream.
When what was stripped of life picks up the spark
of sun that strikes a chord with every beam,
there is no death or chill in ice and snow,
but only beauty in the water's flow.
