Author Notes
Most ocean waves are caused by the wind as it blows over the ocean's surface. The small ripples caused by a brief, gentle breeze are called capillary waves or cat's paws. Cat's paws is also the nickname given to the breeze that causes the ripples.
There are totally still seas and seas wracked by huge waves - I prefer the playful cat's paws waves. Metaphorically, I also prefer those sorts of days, somewhat more exciting and unpredictable than boring ones, but not filled with drama either.
