Cherry blossoms,
gently,
fall on
hallowed ground.
Widow's tears
drop heavily --
small consolation found.

Author Notes
This septolet is meant to be a companion piece for my first septolet, Aftermath of War. Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. is especially beautiful in spring when the city's famous cherry trees are in bloom.
The septolet is a poem of 7 lines, 14 words, broken into two sections, each one relating to the other to form a complete picture. There is usually some sense of tension or irony between the two, each presenting a differing view of the larger picture.
