Mellifluous spring peepers
at twilight by the pond --
one starts the pleasing chorus,
then hundreds more respond.
The tapping of woodpeckers
begins on budding trees,
as maple sap flows freely,
released from winter's freeze.
A flock of geese fly northward
from stay in Southern sphere,
while pussy willows open
and crocuses premiere.
Sweet grasses grow with fragrance
while watered by the rain,
then songbirds raise their voices
when sun comes out again.
A couple kissing gently
commence a youthful fling --
how glorious to witness
each harbinger of spring.

Author Notes
since not everyone knows what spring peepers are - they are tiny one inch frogs that start their bird-like peeping sounds come early spring - and they usually live in huge groups so even though they're small, when hundreds of them "sing" in chorus, they make quite a ruckus.
