jaundiced--exhibiting or influenced by envy, distaste, or hostility
kismet--fate
vituperative--containing or characterized by verbal abuse
xenophobic--unduly fearful of what is foreign and especially of people of foreign origin
zeitgeist--the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era
