Early morning darkness before sunrise
Misty fog drips softly from the eve
Wrapped a cocoon in your worn flannel shirt
Subtle linger of your aftershave
Over and over again thoughts repeat themselves
Searching out when I should have known
Vows till death do us part would come this soon
Lifetime in years means only life for a time
Two hearts that beat as one now only one
Statements when we get old, when we retire
The stage in our life we will never have
Us spoken in plural is done
Memories sustain me your smiles, laughter, love
Some say the pain will ease, again using the word time
Will time lift this blanket of darkness I feel
Should we use the term life or change it to time
Time well spent making love, laughter and smiles
Time even short is better than no time at all
Time make it count live each day to the fullest
Time I no longer seek comfort in a worn flannel shirt
