Speaking with God.

Dear God

by poetwatch

Dear God,
I know that you see into my heart
And know all the things I have done.
I thank you for still caring for me.
I try to bring smiles to your door,
For I believe that when a person smiles
It brightens the day and your angel
Brings happiness to those in need.
It may be just a foolish thought of mine,
But I hope you understand... I do it for you.
Many times, I have needed a smile
And I have faltered in my quest.
I have fallen down on the road of life,
But you are always there to give me a hand.
I am tired,
My bones have become brittle and weak with age.
Yet, I cannot sleep, for there is work to be done
People need love in their hearts
And smiles on their lips.
There are still miles to go
And I need you every day,
For my mind wanders where
It should not. Forgive me, I am just human.
I wish I was perfect, but I am not.
I do not ask for much
Just happiness for the better part of me.
She is your daughter since day one.
For myself, I ask your forgiveness,
Your love and understanding
And some strength to finish my quest in this life.
I hope it is not too much.
