A tribute to a new life.
A Tangle Of Trees
a speck of green
appears in the soil
reaching towards the sun
leaves begin to open
embracing a new life
other sprouts burst through
struggling for their space
competing for every inch
life demands the fittest
the soil begins moving
from deep within emerges
other forms of life
companions enriching the soil
creating a new ecosystem
beneath the spreading leaves
spring rains unleash hope
to the sprouting trees
birds seeking a home
dance through the undergrowth
gathering food for mates
twigs for the nest
a snake slithers by
searching for his prey
nothing moves but leaves
in the warm breeze
summer brings a buzzing
insects fill the air
above the tiny trees
dragonflies perch like birds
waiting for their chance
the soil crawls with
ants and rollie pollies
tending to their work
their season won't last
a cool northern breeze
signals a change coming
green becomes many colors
yellow red orange umber
that gently drift down
a blanket of white
covers the young trees
dormant they stand tall
waiting for the promise
of a warm spring

This is one of my crazy prompts, an epic poem about nature, four words per line. I guess I had spring on my mind when I wrote this. I think it would a great illustrated book for children.
Thanks for reading!
Have a great day and God bless.
