When all seems hopeless, I pray God hears my plea.

Heavy Burdens

by Brigitte Elko

Afraid and alone, numb, I sit on a bench...
Praying to God while my fingers are clenched.

Hear me, Almighty, I gave my troubles all to you...
Send me a message, in spirit, to help me through.

Listening closely, no distractions, shutting out noise...
My ears are cocked for a response, I am poised.

Your message, dear God, is vague and veiled...
I can't understand, you are my shepherd, do you hear my wail?

Endlessly begging for biblical guidance from you...
Here wandering on earth, I am lost, know not what to do.

The end is forthcoming one way or another...
When I think of the possible means, yes, I shudder.

Can't take the pain inflicted, I try to bear my cross...
Not brave as you, marching in vain,no end, just loss.

Heavy burdens are weighing me down, more each day
Hear me, dear Almighty, show me the right way.

"GOD, do you hear? I know you care,
The burden is too heavy, I DESPAIR!"

There are times in life, when events alter the course of one's life. When burdens mound up and all seems hopeless, God's guidance is often hard to internalize. The end is inevitable for all of us and sometimes is prayed for.
